4 Tips to Prolong the Life of Your Vehicle

Your vehicle is one of your most costly possessions. Considering how much money you spent on your car, it should be in your best interest to keep it in peak condition.

Cars may not last forever, but it is likely to last for a very long time if you take better care of it. Here are 4 easy ways to extend the life of your car.

Keep your car clean

Regular washing will help keep your car looking new. While that’s certainly a good reason to keep your car clean, it’s not just the only one.

Tree sap, road dirt, rain, snow, salt, and bird poop – all these can get on your car as you drive. When left unwashed, they can be damaging to your vehicle. Not only will they damage the paint, but the metal too. Worse, some of this damage is irreversible and can lower your car’s resale value.  Keeping your car clean will help preserve your car’s appearance, extend its life, and maintain its resale value.

Inspect your tires and wheels

Always check your tires before driving. Make sure that they are inflated to the pressure specified in your vehicle’s owner manual. Keeping your tires properly inflated provides several benefits. It will provide a smoother ride, better fuel efficiency, quicker steering response, and prevent uneven wear.

Unbalanced wheels and uneven tire wear can cause excess stress on the suspension components. This may require a trip to the mechanic and leave you with a hefty bill.

Change your oil

Your car’s engine is composed of different parts that move very quickly. The oil lubricates the engine and reduces friction and wear on the moving parts. Over time, the oil breaks down and turns into a muddy, sludge-like substance. It becomes less effective at its job; thus, causing the engine parts to rub against one another. This may cause damage to your engine.

In order to ensure a long and healthy road life for your car, it is important to change your oil regularly. Since every vehicle has a different recommended schedule, we suggest that you check your car’s owner manual.

Drive carefully

Your driving habits have a direct effect on the lifespan of your car. As a car owner, it is your responsibility to drive carefully and at the correct speeds.

Avoid accelerating quickly and driving at high speeds. Accelerate slowly when you begin to drive. Take it easy on your vehicle. Drive carefully and you’ll be rewarded with longer driving intervals without repair.

Your tips are very helpful to maximize the lifespan of the car. I like the idea of cleaning the car at a regular interval in order to prevent the contaminants from damaging the car. Contaminants like dust particles, salt particles could damage the car parts. Hence, a car should be washed at a regular interval. And breaks play a key role and should be checked at a regular interval, in order to prevent any types of accident that could have occurs due to the damaged breaking system.
